DFW Pug Rescue: Monday, February 4

http://www.dfwpugs.com/

Order from any i Fratelli Pizza location or dine at our Ristorante & Wine Bar in Irving on Monday, February 4 and mention “DFW Pug Rescue.”  When you do, they will receive 15% of your purchase amount as a DoughNation to continue their work finding homes for lovable pugs.

Tank & Ben, DFW Pug Rescue Alumni

DFW Pug Rescue Club, Inc., (DFWPRC) was incorporated in July 1997 as a non-stock, non-profit corporation for the rescue, care, and placement of unwanted, mistreated, or homeless pugs in Texas.

DFWPRC is the largest pug rescue organization in the United States and has rescued and placed over 5,500 huggable, squeezable, absolutely adorable pugs — we rescue approximately 10 pugs a week.

We rescue ALL pugs regardless of age or medical condition. Since we rescue ALL pugs, our veterinary care is our biggest on-going expense and we average approximately $250,000 a year in veterinary expenses. This amount is after our veterinary care clinics provide deep discounts. 100% of all funds donated to DFW Pug Rescue are used to pay for Veterinary care.

All pugs rescued by DFWPRC are taken immediately to the vet where they are examined, tested (and treated) for heartworm, vaccinated, sterilized, and rabies shots administered before being placed in a foster or permanent home.

70% of the rescue pugs are heartworm positive and all are treated at DFWPRC’s expense

DFWPRC is an all-volunteer non-profit organization and do not have a staging area to hold our rescue pugs so we depend on the generosity of our volunteers to provide foster homes until permanent homes can be located.

DFWPRC has placed pugs in 28 states, British Columbia, Canada, Hawaii, Germany, and Japan.

Pizza for a Cause: Nimitz High School Culinary Arts on Monday, December 17

Posted on Posted on

Did you know that both David and Mike Cole attended El Centro College in Dallas studying culinary arts?  That know-how has translated into years of quality Italian specialties (at i Fratelli Ristorante & Wine Bar) and our famous thin-n-crispy pizza.  The brothers recognize the importance of fostering interest in the culinary arts among students of all ages, and David Cole acts as a mentor and guest speaker at many institutions.

The Coles were recently invited to the Conrad Hilton College of Restaurant and Hospitality Management at the University of Houston to share the story of the founding of i Fratelli.  The Hilton College has begun the task of organizing and cataloging archival material from our 25 year history, which will be part of the collection of the school.

Your pizza purchase (or your lunch or dinner at i Fratelli Ristorante & Wine Bar) on Monday, December 17 will support the Nimitz High School Culinary Arts program.  Just mention Nimitz when you place your order at any i Fratelli location.

i Fratelli sponsors The Main Place on December 10

Posted on Posted on
The Main Place in Irving is a ‘store without a cash register’ which provides free clothing to high school students currently homeless, unaccompanied or in need.

Nationally, more than 1.6 million children or 1 in 45 are homeless in America, according to a report by The National Center on Family Homelessness. That is a 38% increase since the start of the U.S. recession in 2007.

Founder Sharon Johnston started ten years ago with a jean drive at the Irving Women’s Network holiday luncheon.  Today, The Main Place  boasts over 6,000 square feet, often overflowing with pre-owned clothes.

Give thanks and help combat hunger on November 19

Posted on Posted on

In the spirit of the season, 15% of your purchase on Monday, November 19 will benefit North Texas Food Bank.  Call for delivery, visit any of our nine pizza locations to pick up an order, or dine at i Fratelli Ristorante & Wine Bar.  Be sure to mention North Texas Food Bank when you place your order.

In 1982, the North Texas Food Bank was created to address the severe hunger problem in our community. At that time, 333,000 meals were provided in one year to individuals who were food insecure, meaning they were unsure where their next nutritious meal was coming from. As NTFB turns 30, the number of nutritious meals provided in fiscal year 2012 was 47 million.

Since 1982, we’ve seen many victories in the fight against hunger thanks to the support of volunteers, donors, companies, organizations, families, students, parents and individuals, all standing behind one mission: To passionately pursue a hunger free community.
