We want your fundraiser to be as successful as possible. In efforts to see the greatest results, please take note and advantage of the following recommendations and tips:
1. Leverage Your Personal Networks
- Alert your social community of the fundraiser. Make sure to include all details of the fundraiser (date, phone number, instructions on how to participate)
- Send them an event request and a save-the-date reminder
- Ask your social community to help spread the word for you
- Ask your friends, family, organizations and groups to talk about it in their social communities
- If you have connections to Media Outlets, simply communicate the who, what, when, where, how and why. Then, request for their participation to help spread the word.
- On the day of the fundraising event, provide your networks with a friendly reminder on the who, what, where and how
2. Leverage Your Professional Networks
- Alert your coworkers, management and HR (sometimes they can offer additional support)
- Organize a lunch pizza party on Mondays as a group to make a big impact
- Use the time to host company meetings and/or team building activities
- Create a simple flyer and place on water cooler or common areas
- On the day of the fundraising event, provide your coworkers with a friendly reminder on the who, what, where and how
3. Leverage the Nominated Organization’s Networks
- Alert the organization’s key contact of the fundraiser details (date, phone number, instructions on how to participate)
- Request your contact to spread the word via email, newsletter, blog, social media and word-of-mouth
- Creating a simple graphic for social media use has performed well for past organizations
- Facilitate a “countdown” 5 days before the fundraiser date through email and social media to increase awareness
- On the day of the fundraising event, provide a friendly reminder on the who, what, where and how
These are a sample of things that can be done to raise awareness. Just remember that the more creative you are, the more successful your fundraiser will be.
